Persian blog post

Published by under history

This is a blog post of me imagining that I was fighting in one of the Persian battles against the Greeks.

I was at the battle of Thermopylae and I remember. I was just a regular man in the kings personal army. When the king summoned us to his thrown room. He told us that we would be apart of the greatest war ever to take place! After the king sent all his men to fight the Greeks We traveled to Thermopylae. To a passage thou the Rockey train.

The day King Xerxes sent us (the immortals) out to pickle the Spartans was the hottest day in war history. As we ran we could here and feel the pounding of feet on the ground. the smell of blood and sweet filed the air. we crashed into the Spartans and fought till we could not fight any more. The sight of seeing my friends and allies dieing made the weight of my sword feel heavier and hotter. The sight of those helmets and spears mad my skin crawl. Then behind the Spartans came our forces that had snuck thou a different and smaller passage, and we wiped out the Spartans! We had won this battle, but sadly we did not win the war against the Greeks. I still have the images of that battle in my mind.

Edublog Challenge #6 Volunteer

Published by under blog challenge

I would like to be a volunteer in the Ventana Wildlife Society - An organization committed to conserving native wildlife and their habitats. If people helped protect nature it could last forever. Other people around the world can see how amazing nature is. For example, our native coastal giant sequoias, redwood trees, and the California Condor which is North America’s largest flying land bird with a wing span of 9.5 feet. In 1987 the Ventana Wildlife Society took the last of the wild California Condors into captivity to breed and be released. In 1997 Ventana Wildlife Society began releasing condors on the Big Sur  Coast in Monterey County.
If we let nature go to waste it will affect us as human beings just as much. It is very important to me to conserve natural places and keep endangered animals alive. Also, being in touch with nature can be one of the best things for us. Studies show that time spent near the ocean puts our mind at peace. If I volunteer I think I would get happiness out of it.

150 word story: Beneath the Surface

Published by under ELA

On an Army base in the Sahara Desert, beneath the surface of the land,  a monster lay ready to emerge. “Nice evening,” said Jeff.  As if on cue, a low rumbling sound made the fort shudder. “STATUS REPORT!”  the officer shouted to the  tower. “Nothing to worry about sir, just an earthquake.”

A monster named Bogart had escaped and resurfaced from his imprisonment. “I smell blood and flesh.” As soon as night fell black fog started to surround the fort. Flood lights could barely shine through the fog. Jeff sent six of his men to make sure everything was in order. Minutes later screams were heard. Five men had been brutally killed. One survivor described the attacker as a ten foot tall rust colored monster. Everyone was in a panic.

Jeff ordered the base to be on alert. Troops prepared for attack. The monster charged, Jeff’s men shot the beast….

Math

Published by under math,Uncategorized

This week we did perimeter, circumference of a circle, and area in math. Perimeter was very easy, all we had to do was to add all the sides together. Circumference,  or the distance around a circle, was tricky but I understand it. Area the number of non overlapping unit squares needed to cover a surface.  I remembered it from last year. We had to multiply the length by the width, or the base times the height.

Last week we learned more useful skills in math. For example, our teacher taught us about theoretical probability which is a mathematical concept used to define the number of ways an event can occur to the total number of possible outcomes.  Also, we were given the opportunity to do extra credit work. That’s all!!!
